Amputated the coronal pulp on an immature molar, achieved haemostasis, and now need to cover the whole amputation site before it starts bleeding again? That is a wide target on a clock you do not control. At Ø3.40 mm the purple VPT needle is the widest bore PD make – they describe it as suited to broader applications – and it exists so that a pulpotomy floor can be covered in one movement rather than three.

› Time matters twice. Once at the pulp, where haemostasis is not indefinite, and once afterwards, where the cleaning window is still fifteen minutes.
› Fits your existing syringe. PD state the VPT needles are compatible with MAP System syringes.
› Premixed materials suit it. A putty that is ready when you are removes one step from a sequence that is already timed.

Is purple simply better than white?
No – wider, which is only an advantage when the target is wide. For a small carious exposure the Ø2.30 mm white needle places more precisely.

Does PD publish outcome data for VPT with this?
Not for the device. There is a published case series describing clinical use, and PD cite general professional guidance on vital pulp therapy – which is about the treatment, not about this carrier. No comparative data exists.
