TCAdent is Cerkamed's 35% trichloroacetic acid for local cauterisation of the oral mucosa. In their words it is used "to cauterise local pathological lesions and minor bleeding in the oral cavity", working by "chemical coagulation of pathologically altered tissue", and "promotes healing of granulating lesions". Ready to use; the applicator is single use, the bottle is not.

› Cerkamed's four steps: "Thoroughly dry and isolate the affected area (with e.g. Vaseline). Soak the tip of the attached applicator in the preparation, get rid of any excess. Rub the altered tissue until it becomes white. Rinse with clean water."
› Two contraindications from Cerkamed: hypersensitivity to any ingredient, and "Do not use this product in children."
› Cerkamed: "Apply only on the affected area." It "can cause eye and skin irritation" – gloves, goggles and protective clothing.
› Rinse it out thoroughly afterwards: Cerkamed warn that residue "may prevent the setting of impression materials".
› Cerkamed mark the product "TO BE USED BY DENTIST ONLY".
No, and the two are not interchangeable. Alustat liquid is a vasoconstrictor for a bleeding margin. TCAdent is a caustic that coagulates the tissue it touches – Cerkamed's indication is a pathological lesion or minor bleed that needs cauterising, with a repeat course every 2–4 weeks if it does not resolve first time.
Cerkamed: stored below 25°C in the tightly closed original container, the expiry date does not change after opening. The bottle is multi-use; the applicators are single use – "Multiple use of applicator may cause the risk of reinfection."
