› Cerkamed on the chemistry: EDTA, "by flushing out calcium and magnesium ions", softens the superficial dentine "making it easier to remove, clear blockages and shaping the canals"; and "Abundant foam created as a result of the reaction between urea peroxide and NaOCl allows removing debris remaining and dentine from the prepared canal."
› Cerkamed: "Lubricating substances in the product facilitate the introduction of the tool into the duct and minimise the possibility of breaking the tool in the canal."
› Do not leave it in between visits – Cerkamed list it as a contraindication: "This can lead to excessive softening of dentin."
› Cerkamed: "Do not use the product immediately before/after rinsing with chlorhexidine digluconate, otherwise a white milky residue will form – use purified water for rinsing."
› Cerkamed caution near the apex: "Caution is advised when preparing the canal close to the apex area, as the tool may cause perforation of the canal." And EDTA "can adversely affect the bonding strength of dentin to tooth restoration materials".
› Cerkamed mark the product "TO BE USED BY DENTIST ONLY".
Keep it in the fridge. Cerkamed's storage range for Endo-Prep Cream is 2–15°C, not the below-25°C of the rest of the range. They allow up to 10 days below 40°C in transit, which covers delivery; after that it belongs in the practice fridge, not the drawer.
Different steps. The cream goes in with the file, during shaping, and does its work through the foam and the lubrication. Endo-Solution 17% EDTA is the liquid 17% EDTA for the irrigation sequence itself – the chelation step between hypochlorite rinses. Cerkamed direct the cream is followed by a hypochlorite rinse "until it stops foaming" and then purified water.
Cerkamed make 2 ml, 5 ml and 10 ml syringes and a Mega Pack of three 10 ml. The 10 ml is the one we stock as standard; ask us about the others.
