The middle Gutta-Smart plugger, 50/.05

Heat pluggers wear out, and Dentsply Sirona say so. They write that all electric heat pluggers “will gradually lose their heating efficiency over time”, and that a deformed or oxidised one should be replaced. This is the medium – 50/.05, yellow – for the Pack handpiece.

›  Never fire it in air. Dentsply Sirona: heating a plugger without contact with gutta-percha can damage it – the most common way to shorten its life.
›  Four seconds, no more. The directions limit a heated plugger to 4 seconds in the canal, to prevent thermal injury.
›  Let it cool before swapping. Turn off, wait, then pull it straight out of the handpiece.
›  Dispose of in a sharps bin. As the directions ask, when it is retired.

Which size do I need?
The kit ships with all three. Dentsply Sirona publish the sizes, not a canal-by-canal selection rule, so choose as you would any heat plugger. Other sizes: Small 40/.025 · Large 60/.06.

Is it covered by the handpiece warranty?
No. Dentsply Sirona treat the pluggers as consumables, outside the 24-month handpiece warranty.
