A Thermafil obturator is a carrier coated in gutta percha, heated in an oven and taken to length in one movement. This one is made to the shape a ProTaper Gold F5 file cuts, so the carrier reaches length without being forced.

What you need alongside it, and one thing we do not stock

Two honest points before you order. A Thermafil obturator has to be heated in a Thermafil oven, and QED do not stock one. If you already have one, these are the refills. If you do not, the carrier technique is not open to you and warm vertical or single cone with a matched Conform Fit cone is the route.

The second is the verifier, and there is a gap here worth knowing about: F5 finishes at ISO 050 and we sell no single ISO 050 Thermafil verifier. The closest is the 45–90 assorted set. Ask us before you order if that matters to the case.

›  Matched, not approximated. Dentsply Sirona make these specifically for ProTaper Gold shapes. A generic obturator in a variable-taper preparation binds coronally or falls short.
›  One movement to length. The carrier takes warm gutta percha apically in a single placement, which is the whole argument for the technique.
›  Sealer is still a step. A carrier-based fill is placed with sealer, not instead of it.

Do I need the oven?
Yes, and we do not sell one. These are the obturators only.

Which sealer?
AH Plus or AH Plus Jet are Dentsply Sirona’s own; NeoSEALER EZFlo is the bioceramic alternative. Resin or bioceramic is a real choice of technique rather than a ranking – we carry both because both are right in different hands.

What is the alternative if I have no oven?
ProTaper Gold Conform Fit gutta percha F5 with sealer, which needs nothing beyond what is already on the bracket table.
