Two instruments on one handle: the DG16 endodontic explorer at one end and a CP15 periodontal probe at the other, both ENDOBLACK coated. One instrument off the tray instead of two, and neither end throwing light back at the scope.

On the two ends: “The explorer DG16 is used to sound the bone and detect fenestrations caused by the lesion. The probe CP15 is used to evaluate the depth of the drilling into the osteotomy, in correlation with CBCT analysis.”

What the black coating does

Kohler set three finishes against each other: a mirror finish gives an “extreme dazzling effect due to strong reflection”; sandblasting is “less dazzling, reduced reflection”; with the ENDOBLACK coating “reflection is reduced considerably, dazzling effect is lowered significantly.”

›  Kohler also claim hardness of approx. 1000–1300 HV for the coating.

›  Friction “in average 7 times lower compared with Titanium and Stainless Steel”, which they link to reduced wear and longer life.

›  “Increased surface density, biocompatible barrier, insensitive with cleaning solutions, reduced risk of contact corrosion.”
